2. What if it gets into the eyes?

When Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion was tested to determine the effect if it were to get into one's eyes, it was found to be non-irritating to the eye. If one gets the product in the eyes, we recommend rinsing the eye with water until the product has been washed out of the eye.

3. How do I remove Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion?

Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion works like an invisible of glove and it lasts about 6 hours, in some tests even as long as 8 hours, and this protection is naturally removed over a period of hours. Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion’s protective barrier sloughs off along with the normal slough of the skin's outer dead layer of skin.

4. Can you use it on other parts of your body?

Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion can be applied to any of the body's dry skin, or any place where you want protection from chemicals or pathogens (e.g., the feet, arms, legs).  However, Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion is not effective with mucous membranes.

5. How does Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion work?

The Dimethicone, PVP, and Stearic Acid combine to form the polymer coating that bonds with the dead outer layer of skin. All ingredients are Generally Regarded As Safe and Effective (GRASE). This protective coating helps the body grow and maintain healthy skin. The Triclosan (0.3% Irgasan 300, Ciba Geigy) is the active ingredient- i.e., antibacterial.

6. Will it come off onto food I handle?

As Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion dries on the skin, it forms an inert polymer coating that electrochemically bonds to the skin. It is important to remember that even if the lotion were to come in contact with food, the product is orally non-toxic The best way to avoid transfering Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion to foods you handle is to allow it to fully set and dry (about 30 seconds to 1 minute after initial application).

7. Does Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion work as a sunscreen?

No, it does not.  It can be used with your sunscreen, but Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion does not provide any protection from UVA or UVB rays.

8. Can I use hand lotion under or over Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion?

You can use hand lotion under Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion, but it isn't necessary unless you have very dry skin. Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion is Vitamin E and Glycerin enriched, so it will moisturize as it protects. The polymer coating also helps the skin retain the natural oils, thus softening the skin tissue.  If you do apply a hand lotion first, be sure it is fully dry before applying Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion, and use a lotion that does not cause irritation because it will be ‘locked’ onto your skin for up to 6 hours. Using hand lotion over Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion makes no sense since it will not penetrate the barrier to moisturize your hands.

9. Why is this better than other such as Keri Lotion, DermaShield, etc.?

Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion’s combination of a long-lasting, skin protection with sustained gram negative and gram positive antibacterial action puts this product in a class apart from others. Some products protect the skin for a period of time. Others kill germs. We know of no other product available today with Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion’s unique combination of benefits.

10. What does "electrochemically bond" mean?

Certain ingredients in Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion chemically adhere to the outer layer of dead, flaking skin cells. The electrical charge of the lotion and that of the human body are opposite thus creating a "charge attraction" from one to the other.

11. Does Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion replace gloves?

Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ antibacterial lotion provides a secondary layer of protection under gloves, against both chemicals and pathogens. If one were to have a cut or scrape on their hand at the same place where there is a defect in the glove, Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion’s polymer coating on the skin would provide a successful layer of protection. In low-risk environments, Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion can replace gloves. However, in high-risk environments such as hospitals, food preparation establishments, or mechanic shops, it is best to wear Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion under gloves.

19. Does Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion prevent colds for someone with a suppressed immune system, such as from chemotherapy?

We have clinical data that Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion is useful in limiting exposure to bacteria and germs.  We have numerous positive anecdotal reports in that regard. However, we have no such data as to its effectiveness against the common cold, since Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion cannot prevent airborne virus exposure.

20. Is it safe to apply Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion over eczema? Psoriasis? Cuts, sores, or rashes?

It is safe to apply Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion over eczema, psoriasis, and a rash, so long as the cut, sore, or rash is dry (not weeping or bleeding at time of application).  Applying Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion before engaging in activities (e.g., sports, work, food preparation) helps prevent bacteria and germs from affecting cuts, sores, or rashes, and can help prevent the spread of infection to others.

21. I have sensitive skin, will I have a reaction to Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion?

If you have sensitive skin or skin allergies, you may want to apply a small amount of Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion to the underside of the wrist and wait 20 - 30 minutes to see if there is any reaction. We have received very few reports of adverse reaction to Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion. These reports consisted of instances where persons who were very sensitive to glycerin reported mild reactions. The supervising dermatologist who oversaw the eight-week long ‘Repeat Insult Patch Test’ on 55 humans classified Bio-Safe® Skin Shield™ lotion as non-irritating and non-sensitizing.
